product review: jane carter solution

Hydrating Invigorating Shampoo (Sulfate Free) (2 oz.)
Ingredients:  Water (Aqua), Sodium Methyl Sulfolaurate, Sodium Sulfoacetate, Sodium Cocoyl Quinoa Protein, Sodium Lauroyl Sarcosinate, Aloe Barbadensis (Aloe Vera) Gel, Urtica Dioica (Nettle) Extract, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Extract, Salvia Officinalis (Sage) Leaf Extract, Lawsonia Inermis (Henna) Extract, Mentha Piperita Leaf (Peppermint) Extract, Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate, Cocoamidopropyl Betaine, Disodium Lauroamphodiacetate, Glycol Stearate, Sodium PCA, Polyquaternium-7, Caprylyl Glycol, Citric Acid, Potassium Sorbate, Fragrance, Phenoxyethanol.

Verdict:  This was not a terrible shampoo.  Not exactly moisturizing (what shampoo is?) and not exactly drying.  It also didn't leave my hair in a tangled, knotted mess.  I'm not sure if there is such a thing as a good shampoo, but this is close.  I may try the full size when my current shampoo stash is depleted.

Nutrient Replenishing Conditioner (2 oz.)
Ingredients:  Water (Aqua), Behentrimonium Methosulfate, Simmondsia Chinensi (Jojoba) Oil, Glycerin, Cetearyl Alcohol, Aloe Baradensis (Aloe Vera) Gel, Ceteareth 20, Salvia Officinalis (Sage) Leaf Extract, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Extract, Lawsonia Inermis (Henna) Extract, Urtica Dioica Exract (Nettle), Glycine Soja (Soybean) Oil, Sodium Cocoyl, Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein, Panthenol, Caprylyl Acid, Citric Acid, Fragrance, Phenoxyethanol.

Verdict:  I used this conditioner as a day two refresher/leave-in for my puff.  It's a sample size and I just wanted to get rid of it because two ounces would never be large enough for full-on conditioning.   Two ounces...my hair would laugh and laugh and laugh. The scent is very soap-ish and chemical-like.  It does a good job of holding water...my hair took forever to dry.  I sealed with the Nourish & Shine.  My hair looked good, but I'm not a fan of the ingredients.  I want products with all natural, not synthetic, ingredients in the top five.  I will not repurchase this conditioner.

Revitalizing Leave-In Conditioner (2 oz.),
Ingredients:  Water (Aqua), Polyquarternum 7, Aloe Barbadensis (Aloe Vera) Gel, Salvia Officinalis (Sage) Leaf Extract, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Extract, Lawsonia Inermis (Henna) Extract, Sodium Cocoyl, Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein, (Caprylic Glycerides), Soyamid DEA, Fragrance, Phenoxyethanol.

Verdict:  I used this product when refreshing my hair on day-two and beyond.  It's like lemon-scented water.  I seal with Nourish & Shine.  It's suitable to add a burst of moisture, but unlikely that I would repurchase.  I could just use water.

Wash & Go w/ Curl Defining Cream
Curl Defining Cream (1 oz.)
Ingredients (NEW FORMULA):  Water (Aqua), Anthemis Noblis Flower (Chamomile) Extract, Symphytum Officinal (Comfrey) Leaf Extract, Equisetum Arvense (Horsetail) Extract, Urtica Dioica (Nettle) Extract, Rosemarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Extract, Humulus Lupulus (Hops) Extract, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Persea Gratissima (Avocado) Oil, Tocopherol (Vitamin E), Glycerin, Propanediol, Poly-Quaternium 100, Citric Acid, Ceteareth 20,  Phenoxyethanol, Sorbic Acid, Fragrance.

Verdict:   I used this cream on freshly cleansed and conditioned hair for a wash and wear style.  The gumminess of the previous formula has been updated to creaminess.  It leaves my hair very soft, but not shiny.  I've been searching for a curl cream that would provide moisture, hold and shine.  This is still not it.

I only like this cream layered on top of a dollop the Nourish & Shine cream.  The two products do a great job of leaving my coils shiny, soft and defined.  My hair doesn't hold definition long without gel; so, I only use this combo on days when I'm trying to achieve softness over definition.

New Formula Updated Verdict:  I no longer use this product.  I tried the new formula shown above and it makes my hair look good.  The issue I have is that Poly-Quaternium 100 (also known as a quat) is a polymer.  Polymers are essentially plastic.  I had nice shine with the product and it would be fairly smooth, but it would be so DRY.  It was dry because it was coated in a fine layer of plastic which kept moisture out.  This is one of those products where you have to choose between hair that looks nice and hair that is "healthy".  I tend to experience more breakage and shedding when my hair is dry; so, I dump anything that doesn't moisturize.

Wrap & Roll (2 oz.)
Ingredients:  Water (Aqua), Cocamidopropyl Betaine, 11PEG-45 Palm Kernel Glycerides, Polyquaternium 11, Quinoa Protein, Salvia Officinalis (Sage) Leaf Extract, Urtica Dioica (Nettle) Extract, Rosemarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Extract, Lawsonia Inermis (Henna) Extract, Fragrance, Phenoxyethanol.

Verdict:  For all intents and purposes, this is a mousse.  I used it for a roller set.  It provided sufficient hold.  The scent was not offensive.  It did not leave my hair shiny, but a little goes a long way.  I don't often roller set my hair...maybe twice a year at most...therefore I will not repurchase this product, but I would recommend it to anyone that likes mousse.

Nourish & Shine (1 oz)
Ingredients:  Butyrospermum Parki (Shea) Butter, Garcinia Indic (Kokum) Butter, Shorea Stenoptera (Illippe) Butter, Mangifera Indic (Mango) Butter, Citrus Limo (Lemon)*, Citrus Grandi (Grapefruit)*, Citrus Reticulat (Sweet Orange)*, Glycine Soja (Soy) Oil, Hydrogenated Polyisobutene (Squalene), Fragrance. *Essential Oils

Verdict:  This is my favorite Jane Carter product.  It works well to seal moisture into hair and skin.  I like this butter in spite of the fact that the scent smells like citrus fruit.  A little goes a long way, but I like to use a lot.  It's mildly overpriced, but I always repurchase on sale.

Hair Nourishing Cream (4 oz)
Ingredients: Water (Aqua), Butyrospermum Parki (Shea) Butter, Glycerin, Xanthen Gum, Garcinia Indic (Kokum) Butter, Shorea stenoptera (Illippe) Butter, Mangifera Indic (Mango) Butter, Citrus Aurantium Dulci (Orange)*, Citrus Grandi (Grapefruit)*, Cymbopogon Martini (Palmarosa)*, Cedrus Atlantic (Cedarwood)*, Caqnaga Odorat (Ylang Ylang)*, Citrus Aurantium Bergami (Bergamot)*, Rosmarinus Officinali (Rosemary)*, Simmondsia Chinensi (Jojoba) Oil, Polysorbate 80,Tocopherol (Vitamin E), Sorbic Acid, Caprylyl Glycol, Ceterth 2, Cetearth 20, Phenoxethanol. *Essential Oils

Verdict:  The ingredients look awesome...so many butters.  However, I would describe this cream as flaccid...at best.  It has a very watery and waxy texture.  It did not fully absorb into my hair.  It did not provide shine, but rather a chalky cast.  I would not repurchase.  I actually returned the tube I had.  Maybe it had gone bad?  Who knows.

Quench (8 oz)
Ingredients:  Water (Aqua), Hydroxypropyltrimonium Hydrolyzed Soy Protein (Hydrolyzed Soy Protein), Panthenol, Polyquaternium 11, Lawsonia Inermis (Henna) Extract, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Extract, Salvia Officinalis (Sage) Leaf Extract, Urtica Dioica (Nettle) Extract, Fragrance, Phenoxethanol.

Verdict:  Awesome container, earthy scent and sticky texture.  Good for refreshing hair.  I use this on a day two puff.  The contents are very concentrated and work well when diluted with water.  I will not repurchase this spray.  Honestly, I never liked the scent. I purchased this product because I wanted to recycle the container as my water bottle, but I dropped it and the nozzle broke.
